Building a Sense of Calm

For this session, we will be using the breathing to focus our attention.

The intention here is not to get rid of thoughts, but the center ourselves.

Thoughts will come and go.

The intention is to notice these thoughts when they arrived and then simply let them pass.

We do not want to hold them against us.

We do not want to push them away.

We simply let them come and go noticing them and letting them pass.

At times thoughts will arise and we will pay attention to them.

When this happens, we recognize it is happening and we resent her ourselves.

We have not failed. We simply recognize that we are no longer centered and re-center.

This meditation skill is about recognizing when this happens and bringing your mind back to the present moment.

Practicing the skill will allow your mind to remain in the present rather than drift into thoughts of the past or concerns for the future.

The more you practice the more you’ll find that are calmer.
