Releasing negative emotions
It’s not your arms or your legs.
You don’t physically feel emotions in your bones or your muscles.
Emotions are created in the mind and stored in the location that is now being referred to as the body second brain your belly.
It may surprise some people to know just how closely our minds and abdomens are linked.
The brain and the belly are intricately linked via a brain-gut axis where the resident microbes within our gut interact powerfully with our emotions.
Our digestive system has its own nervous system made up of between 50 to 100 million nerve cells called the enteric nervous system. These cells can release up to 20 different types of hormones into your bloodstream.
And here’s where it gets really interesting.
The gut is also the area where the largest amount of serotonin is stored.
So what does this all mean?
Well, the gut is connected to the brain via a series of thick nerve cables, which transfer information between them. We all know the sensation of negative feelings and it’s these connections which communicate those Sensations to us.
We’re going to learn how to relax your belly and physically release negative feelings by altering the pacing and the depth of your breath.
